Indiewood: Indiewood is a term used to describe n alternate pathway to creating films other than the Hollywood Studio System or traditional independent filmmaking.
-In the 1980s, hollywood were reverting backward to the studio era climate of the 30s and 40s. This time the corporate owners of the studios controlled the film business rather than the studio bosses themselves.
-Big budget hollywood films on the whole did not give the director freedom to express their creative vision; directing actors to do specific things with the script. They are bankrolled, given a deadline and are subject to focus group viewings. Independent films find their way to audiences through film festivals.
-Gradually an alternate pathway other than the hollywood system was decided that gave independent filmmakers the creative control that was heavily compromised in conventional ways. This alternate pathway was informally known to be Indiewood.
